October 24th 2013 - Galeri Petronas

It was right after i done my assignment and i decided to take a walk to KLCC. Well, Young Malaysian Artist New Objection II were held at Galeri Petronas. This is the cut i pasted from the flyer i got :

"YMA II is an exhibition initiated by GALERI PETRONAS to celebrate young artists. New Objection is a collective effort to create artwork that are free from any form of restrictions, regulations or barriers. It aims to explore new creative abilities in the hope of discovering new art idioms or vocabulary. Using the combination of modern techniques, these artists manage to skillfully maneuver the traditional aesthetic concepts while highlighting the meaning of their artworks.

This annual event is a thematic exhibition which highlights 20 young Malaysian artists who engage in a ‘self-referential‘ relationship with new technologies to discover the ‘self’ in making contemporary transformation determined by technological developments - new media.

New media art is the art of using new media technologies as a medium. New media works are sourced from telecommunication, digital media and electronics that will deliver art forms that involve interaction in between the artist and observer or inter-observer and artwork that reacts to them in various forms of art practice either conceptually or virtual art and presentation or installation.

These artists will exhibit objects resulting from the reflection of cultural and social events that could be considered as contesting with the traditional media such as drawings, paintings, sculptures and many more despite the opinion that defends the new media art as similar to other contemporary art practices."

SUMMARY

Overall i can say that our own local young artist are much better then other streaming known asia artist. Im not talking about internationally. Take it this way, when we talk about the art, we are not talking about some shapeless, shifting mass of artist who just make up their mind about what their art stands for. They know what they stand for. So any other comments and unsalutable mind thought wouldn't stop the young artist we have today. Who they are, are the one who will stand their own ground.
